Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Clinical Lab Scientist.
• Baccalaureate degree in Clinical Lab Sciences or related field; Applicable military experience may be substituted for a bachelors degree.
• California licensure as Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Clinical Laboratory Bioanalyst.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, directs, and monitors the work of Clinical Lab Scientists and other personnel.
• Trains laboratory assistants on proper techniques/procedures related to clinical laboratory practice.
• Trains Clinical Lab Scientists and other laboratory personnel on proper techniques/procedures related to clinical laboratory practices.
• Verifies that the proper specimen is analyzed for the correct patients and that the correct test is performed.
• Judges the adequacy and qualities of specimens submitted for testing.
• Analyzes clinical laboratory specimens following approved standard methods.
• Performs quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of clinical data and participates in QA/PI activities.
• Uses reference ranges to determine reasonableness of test results.
• Validates test results via correlation with test parameters.
• Confirms testing on all Critical Values prior to releasing results.
• Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on instruments and equipment.
• Documents instrument function and maintenance; releases or reports results per SOPs.
• Directs and trains assistants and staff as needed.
• Supervises incumbents in the Clinical Laboratory and carries out supervisory responsibilities in line with policies and laws.
• Upholds Corporate Compliance and protective confidentiality.
