Job summary

UCSF Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to oversee the Chemistry section's lab workflow and ensure timely, accurate test results. You will troubleshoot instruments, verify calibrations, establish QC materials, and mentor CLS trainees under supervision of a Medical Director.

Responsibilities include updating test procedures, developing new assays, and coordinating with service vendors to minimize downtime, while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• College graduate with a BA or BS in a related science.
• Two years of recent experience performing clinical lab testing in a Clinical Laboratories environment.
• Demonstrated superior theoretical knowledge, technical judgment and skills with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily technical work to meet turnaround times.
• Troubleshoots instrument problems and minimizes downtime.
• Trains CLS/HLT and CLS trainees; maintains training records.
• Updates procedures and develops new tests with supervisor review.
• Performs calibration verification of assays and ensures QC procedures.
