Job summary

The University of California, San Francisco is seeking a Clinical Lab Scientist to perform Chemistry tests, operate instrumentation, and report results in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting. The role emphasizes adherence to QC procedures, accuracy, and timely communication of results.

A BA/BS in a related science and a California CLS or Clinical Chemistry license are required. Prior experience with automation is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field.
• California CLS license or California Chemistry Scientist license.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform Chemistry procedures and report results within established turn-around times.
• Operate laboratory instrumentation and maintain quality control procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and communicate with supervisors.
• Perform and document QA/QC procedures and ensure proper sample labeling and handling.
• Train and assist with training of CLS staff and students as needed.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storage of reagents and supplies.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to all lab policies.
• Collaborate across shifts to ensure accurate and timely results.
