What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews to identify opportunities for improving medical record documentation quality
- Complete audits to assess query compliance, coding accuracy, and provider education needs
- Develop and provide education to ensure competency and compliance within the CDI department
- Function as a liaison between the CDI department, coding, quality, compliance, clinical providers, and organizational leadership
- Participate in interdisciplinary workgroups as a subject matter expert to achieve desired outcomes
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing and an active RN license
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience; 6-10 years preferred
- CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) or CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner) certification
- Knowledge and experience in medical information, coding applications, and electronic spreadsheets
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity Auditing/Education
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and AHA Coding Clinic
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Familiarity with payer compliance and quality metrics
- Active involvement in quality assurance and process improvement initiatives
