Position Summary

Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install HVAC and related equipment as assigned. Assume day-to-day coordination of specific agreements or projects to ensure contractual commitments are met in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities
  1. Use expert technical and troubleshooting knowledge to assist other service representatives in solving problems.
  2. Demonstrate capability and interest in training others and be relied upon to train service technicians and trainees.
  3. Teach problem-solving skills to other technicians without solving problems for them.
  4. Keep technical knowledge current regarding equipment and concepts.
  5. Assess problems to determine whether to repair or replace, and search applicable manuals and online sources.
  6. Participate in technical organizations to enhance knowledge.
  7. Handle a heavy workload of calls efficiently.
  8. Follow systematic questioning techniques to diagnose customer complaints and troubleshoot faults quickly.
  9. Ensure complete system checks before leaving the job to avoid callbacks and verify safety and limit controls are properly set.
  10. Seek help for seemingly unsolvable problems and use proper troubleshooting tools.
  11. Communicate with customers about arrival, departure, and follow-up plans empathetically.
  12. Explore customer complaints to identify the root problem and instruct customers on proper system use.
  13. Provide assurance to customers, explain causes and remedies, and suggest next steps if issues persist.
  14. Prioritize jobs by adhering to schedules, handling interruptions, and arriving prepared with tools and materials.
  15. Complete all paperwork accurately and promptly, obtaining customer signatures as needed.
  16. Inform management of any unfavorable news, changes, or customer dissatisfaction.
  17. Adjust instructions for clear communication with all levels of personnel.
  18. Train customer personnel to handle emergencies and proper system use.
  19. Provide qualified leads to sales, alert about competitive efforts, and support project pricing and planning.
  20. Assist in supporting special projects as assigned, and when supervised, possibly direct smaller work groups.
  21. Report performance issues to the supervisor, although disciplinary authority is not granted.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must meet all requirements for working in specific ATS environments, including a ten-year work history if available.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience.
  • One year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Two years of commercial HVAC experience.
