Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) seeks a Solid Waste Engineer (Project Manager) to lead landfill design and environmental infrastructure projects in Toledo, Ohio, with opportunities for Detroit, Michigan.

This role spans permitting, design, and construction while advancing CEC's solid waste practice in the region. You will manage projects, mentor staff, and collaborate with clients and regulators, applying your technical expertise in a dynamic field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Environmental Engineering.
• 5+ years in civil, geotechnical, or solid waste engineering.
• PE license in Michigan or Ohio required.
• Experience with landfill design and regulatory processes.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and delivery of landfill projects.
• Prepare permit applications and technical reports.
• Perform analyses: soil balance, slope stability, settlement.
• Design landfill systems: liners, leachate, stormwater.
• Manage CQA for landfill cell construction.
• Coordinate with regulators and support permitting.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and staff.
• Collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
