Job summary

Delon Hampton & Associates, Chartered is seeking a Civil Engineer to support land development and infrastructure projects in the Washington DC metro area. The role involves collaborating with senior engineers, clients, agencies, and design teams to develop construction documents and expedite permits.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, 4–10 years of experience, and EIT; PE is preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• 4–10 years' experience in the land development industry.
• EIT certification is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of local jurisdiction standards in the Washington DC metropolitan area (DC, Prince George's County, Montgomery County).
• Ability to prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Experience as a design engineer supporting mid to large civil projects.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Work with senior engineers, clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on complex engineering projects.
• Serve as a lead/resource among team of colleagues to share technical proficiency, guidance, and mentorship.
• Develop construction documents, expedite permits, and support the Manager on all phases of engineering services.
• Provide technical assistance in resolving design problems, including field investigations or inspections and detailed design work.
• Prepare specifications using research and catalogs for materials and installation.
• Assist with construction documents, site and infrastructure design including grading and utilities.
• Plan and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.
• Conduct constructability reviews and assist in planning and reviewing civil projects.
• Liaise between clients, agencies, subcontractors and design teams on complex issues.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion regularly.
