Job description

Description

This position offers an opportunity to utilize and expand your civil engineering skills within a multi-disciplinary team environment. You will work on the design, modification, and analysis of power plants, substations, transmission lines, and similar heavy industrial systems.


As part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will handle a variety of power plant projects, including civil site development tasks such as calculations, designs, and specifications. You will coordinate with project managers, clients, contractors, suppliers, and permitting agencies to ensure timely and complete designs. Depending on the project's scope and complexity, you may lead other civil engineers and designers.


Your responsibilities may also include:

  1. Preparing calculations for storm water drainage, sanitary sewer systems, pavement, ponds, landfills, and earthwork to support design and permits.
  2. Creating technical specifications for construction requirements.
  3. Designing site layouts, grading, and drainage, and collaborating on 3D models and drawings.
  4. Designing storm drainage, roads, water storage, and waste disposal systems.
  5. Reviewing contractor submissions and vendor documentation for compliance.
  6. Traveling to client offices and site locations for reviews, coordination, and verification.

This role is based on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work three days a week.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience include:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • PE license, preferably in New Jersey, Maryland, or other East Coast states.
  • 10+ years of experience in project team environments, with heavy industrial project design, site grading, earthwork, storm water management, and related fields.
  • Experience in technical writing, permits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D, StormCad, PondPack, AutoTurn, and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills and team collaboration ability.
  • Location in Hamilton, NJ, with occasional travel.

Valued but not required:

  • Experience with coal residuals management and disposal.
