Job summary

The Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Southwest is seeking a Supervisory Civil Engineer for the Planning, Design, and Construction Directorate. The role requires leading a technical staff and directing civil engineering design, review, and construction activities.

Responsibilities include coordinating across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems, producing working drawings and specs, and resolving complex employee matters with HR

Qualifications

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required and current in the US.
Experience at GS-12 level or equivalent, with specialized civil engineering work.
Experience in design, design review, construction, and rehabilitation of diverse civil projects.
Experience supervising civilians and mentoring staff.
Experience coordinating design across architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection disciplines.
Participation in independent technical review and QA teams; provide technical direction to Field Engineering Commands and AE.

Responsibilities

Prepare and direct working drawings and specifications and review construction drawings.
Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, considering the difficulty and requirements of the assignments.
Review designs, plans, specifications, and design analyses prepared by others.
Resolve complaints from individual employees, resolve group grievances, investigate serious complaints and involve HR as necessary to ensure timely and effective conflict resolution.
