Job summary

Texas Legal Services Center (TLSC) seeks a Managing Attorney for the Child Welfare Program in Austin. The role oversees caseloads, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with grant requirements. You will mentor attorneys, coordinate program activities, and report to the Deputy Director while advancing TLSC’s mission across the child welfare system.

  • Five years’ licensure as an attorney preferred.
  • Experience with CPS cases or child welfare law is desirable.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel outside Austin as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and motivate staff, providing leadership and team-building.
  • Provide legally sound, trauma‑informed representation and referrals.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Texas family law and CPS matters.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, grantors, and social services partners.
  • Lead grant reporting and program activities; supervise duties and staff.
