Qualifications

Summary:

The Lead shall oversee the daily shift operations of the residential program, activities, and care. The Lead shall assist in coordination of care, staffing patterns, budgets, and environments that support the treatment philosophy. The Lead shall work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the best care possible for the children and families in our care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – Child Treatment & Development:

  • Must adhere to the agency philosophy and mission statement.
  • Contribute to the development of treatment goals for each client in conjunction with the treatment team.
  • Attend treatment team meetings.
  • Participate in the Development, Updates, and implementation of treatment plans, monthly progress summaries, utilize assessment tools and oversee the implementation of the relationship-based philosophy in collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Ensure the youth’s needs for special services are addressed with the Treatment Team.
  • Develop uniform, quality group experiences within the residential program.
  • Observe clients to identify areas where additional support in physical and emotional development may be needed.
  • Assist in the coordination of all client visits with the client’s assigned Licensed Clinician.
  • Assist in the establishment of individual crisis management plans for each client in their unit.
  • Work with the House Manager on annual budget to reduce costs and spending as appropriate.
  • To be accessible to clients in crisis.
  • Oversee program group activities.
  • Understand the cultural diversity of clients and team members to better serve our clients.
  • Ability to develop mutually respectful relationships with our clients and their families.
  • Ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of our clients and their families and to help them gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place.
  • Ability to work as a partner with other team members.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the House Manager and/or Director.
  • Transport clients in agency vehicles.
  • Assist and support the training and development of staff in the program philosophy including the value of structure, engagement, nurture, and challenge.

Lead Responsibilities

2 nd Shift:

  • Training staff
  • Assist the House Manager with completing the monthly staff schedule
  • Assigning and assisting with cooking and cleaning tasks
  • Ensure staff and clients follow the daily schedule & monthly activity schedule
  • Complete any other task assigned by the house manager
  • Ensure non-evasive searches are completed daily when the client returns from school, outing with an approved visitor, or any other time deemed necessary
  • Plan, facilitate, and ensure 5 SEL groups weekly
  • Ensure clients complete homework, complete chores, receive daily physical activity, & attend planned outings

3rd Shift

  • Training staff
  • Assist the House Manager with completing the monthly staff schedule
  • Assigning and assisting with cooking and cleaning tasks
  • Ensure staff and clients follow the daily schedule
  • Complete any other task assigned by the house manager
  • Ensure deep cleaning and sanitizing of the command areas in the home
  • Complete and maintain inventory logs of cleaning supplies & food supplies
  • Ensure staff stay awake
  • Check shift notes from all shifts daily and report any missing notes by email to the house manager at the end of your shift

Education/Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with adolescents (12-17), specifically managing complex emotional and behavioral needs possibly including substance use and/or IDD (Intellectual/Developmental Disability) challenges.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Associate Degree in Human Services or a Four-year degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Must have the ability to respond effectively within and cope with an environment that can be extremely stressful on the mind and body.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Must have the ability to respond effectively within and cope with an environment that can be extremely stressful on the mind and body.
  • Maintains a safe therapeutic environment by identifying early signs of behavioral escalation and utilizing approved de-escalation techniques to ensure resident and staff safety.
  • Proficient in applying de-escalation techniques to manage agitated or escalated behavior.
  • Provides direct supervision and support to residents, accurately documentingbehaviors and social-emotional shifts.
  • Position requires driving agency vehicles as well as transporting clients.
  • Must pass a drug screening test and an extensive background check.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • A valid NC driver's license is required and meets agency automobile insurance requirements to operate an agency vehicle.
