Florida’s Department of Children and Families seeks a Senior Child Protective Investigator to conduct investigations of alleged child abuse, neglect, or exploitation. The role emphasizes independent case work, inter-agency collaboration, and strong documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 4 years law enforcement or active military service, with two additional criteria or alternatives.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Child Welfare Experience, preferably in investigations.
• Current/Active Child Welfare Certification from the Florida Certification Board.
• Valid Driver License and private vehicle for daily work; proof of registration and insurance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or special conditions involving children.
• Interview children, parents, relatives, neighbors, and other parties for information gathering.
• Engage families to identify needs and determine intervention levels; link to agency resources.
• Provide recommendations for case plans to Case Manager and participate in hearings/testimony as needed.
• Perform Present and Impending Danger assessments and develop safety plans with families.
• Arrange emergency placement if the home is unsafe; coordinate with legal services and law enforcement.
• Document thoroughly in client records and coordinate with required agencies.
