OVERVIEW: The Sacramento Crisis Nursery is a family-strengthening program, where parents can bring their children ages 0-5 to one of two Sacramento nurseries for emergency childcare services or overnight care during difficult times. Our mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect by providing support to families in times of crisis.
Under the supervision of the Crisis Nursery Supervisor, the Lead Child Care Worker (LCCW) supports the mission of the agency and program by ensuring the safety, care and supervision of children at the Crisis Nursery. The LCCW is responsible for coordinating the direct care operations during the shift and is the main communication link to site supervisors. The LCCW supports the development and implementation of age-appropriate activities for children in care. The LCCW applies Community Care Licensing (CCL), agency and program standards in the operation and care of children.
Positions are available at our North Crisis Nursery and our South Crisis Nursery.
LOCATION: 6699 South Land Park Drive, Sacramento, CA 95831 (Crisis Nursery South), or 4533 Pasadena Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821 (Crisis Nursery North)
SCHEDULE: Varies, minimum of 16 hours a week. Mandatory Wednesday staff meeting
SALARY: $22.24 - $25.02 per hour, to start
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required. Must have completed 12 postsecondary semester units or equivalent quarter units, focusing on Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Child Health at an accredited institution. At least 3 semester units must include coursework in infant care. Six months of direct care experience with infants can substitute for these units. Alternatively, 9 semester units in relevant classes plus six months of work in a licensed childcare setting are required. A current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing is also acceptable. Candidates with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in related fields are preferred. Driving is required, with a valid license and insurance. Must be at least 21 years old.
