Job summary

Armed Services YMCA in Norfolk, VA seeks a supervisor to assist in creating a developmentally appropriate classroom environment for military families and children. You will mentor staff, model best practices, and collaborate with leadership to support professional growth.

Responsibilities include implementing ELM curriculum, ensuring health and safety standards, planning engaging activities, and coordinating with families.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must hold an Associate, Baccalaureate, or Advanced Degree in Early Childhood Education OR related fields OR Child Development Associate (CDA) and 12 months experience.
• Must meet Virginia licensing requirements or equivalent.
• Must pass Federal, State, and national background checks and clearances.
• Familiarity with licensing regulations and basic MS Office tools.
• Commitment to continued professional development and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Mentor childcare assistants by modeling behaviors and guiding professional development.
• Translate training into practice and consult with leadership for strategies to support staff.
• Develop developmentally appropriate lessons and assessments for children.
