Job summary

UL Research Institutes in Morrisville, NC seeks a Cheminformatics Lead Research Scientist II to develop datasets and workflows connecting chemical structure to properties and hazard. Lead chemical data curation and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to advance safety science.

You will design and implement advanced cheminformatic workflows, build and apply descriptor calculations, taxonomy, and physicochemical properties, while mentoring junior researchers and publishing findings.

Qualifications

• PhD in chemistry, computational chemistry, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of post-graduate experience in cheminformatics or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience developing cheminformatic workflows and leading chemical data curation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cheminformatic research linking structure to properties and hazard.
• Lead curated databases with chemical structures, identifiers, and physicochemical properties.
• Develop ML-based models for hazard and exposure-related properties; mentor junior scientists.
