The Role:

As a Lead Chemical Plant Operator , you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of chemical manufacturing processes, with a focus on the production of alum and other associated chemicals. In addition to standard operator duties, the Lead Operator will serve in a limited supervisory capacity during the absence of the Plant Manager or Plant Supervisor, providing leadership and support to ensure production continuity and compliance with safety standards. . Your responsibilities will include:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Operational Management

• Operate chemical processing equipment including digesters, mixers, pumps, and control systems to ensure effective production.
• Monitor and adjust process parameters to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Inspect materials and final products for adherence to specifications.
• Coordinate closely with team members and maintenance to achieve operational goals.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts for quality, efficiency, and safety.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce and comply with all safety regulations and protocols.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and report any safety concerns or incidents.
• Promote and contribute to a culture of safety within the plant.

Maintenance & Equipment Management

• Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, performing minor repairs where needed.
• Collaborate with maintenance personnel to ensure timely servicing of plant equipment.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports regarding equipment status and production deviations.

Supervisory Duties (As Needed)

• Assume limited supervisory responsibilities during the absence of the Plant Manager/Supervisor.
• Provide direction to other operators to maintain operational continuity.
• Act as the point of contact for urgent decisions or escalations during manager absence.
• Ensure shift changeovers and reporting are conducted efficiently and accurately.

Key Qualifications:

Working Conditions:

• Work in a chemical plant environment with exposure to chemicals, heat, and noise.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Regularly lift, carry, or push up to 60 pounds.
• Exposure to high heat and industrial conditions.
