Job summary

Hampshire County Schools seeks a Head Coach to lead the athletic program for a high school program. The coach will be responsible for planning practices and games, ensuring academic progress and eligibility, and maintaining safety and compliance with WVDE/WVSSAC rules.

The position requires a valid teaching certificate or WV coaching authorization, background checks, and completion of required first aid/CPR and concussion training.

Qualifications

• Valid teaching certificate enabling WV teaching assignment or WV coaching authorization.
• Criminal background check as required by WV statute.
• First aid and CPR training certificate required.
• Concussion/head injury course per WVSSAC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor student-athlete academic progress and eligibility.
• Organize and administer team practices and games.
• Supervise coaching staff and support personnel; coordinate with athletic administrator.
• Ensure safety and compliance with all WVDE/WVSSAC rules and policies.
• Attend mandatory WVSSAC meetings and booster meetings as applicable.
• Maintain equipment and manage travel, uniforms, and facilities.
