Job summary

HCA Florida Largo Hospital is seeking a Lead Certified Surgical Technologist to lead the operating room team and ensure the safest, most advanced care during procedures. You will scrub in for complex cardiac surgeries, mentor newer technologists, and uphold strict counts and infection control standards.

You will guide a collaborative surgical team in a high-volume OR, drive workflow efficiency, and support on-call and emergency cases in a demanding hospital environment.

Qualifications

• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• CST certification required for role.
• Vocational school graduate with surgical tech training.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment, and instruments for procedures.
• Scrub in and support surgeons through complex cardiac surgeries, maintaining sterile environment.
• Guide and mentor surgical technologists, training new team members and upholding best practices.
• Oversee quality and safety by managing counts, handling specimens, and infection prevention standards.
• Drive teamwork and efficiency through clear communication and support for on-call cases.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading surgical preparation by organizing suites, equipment, and instruments to ensure readiness for every procedure
• Scrubbing in and supporting surgeons through complex cardiac surgeries, anticipating needs and maintaining a safe, sterile environment
• Guiding and mentoring surgical technologists, serving as a role model while training new team members and reinforcing best practices
• Overseeing quality and safety by managing counts, handling specimens, and ensuring compliance with infection prevention standards
• Driving teamwork and efficiency through effective communication, rapid problem-solving, and support for on-call and emergency cases

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (CST) Certified Surgical Technologist
• Vocational School Graduate
• High School Graduate / GED
