Job summary

HCA Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a Lead Certified Instrument/Sterile Processing Tech in Denver to supervise sterile processing operations under the direction of an RN. You will ensure instruments are cleaned, sterilized, and disinfected to enhance patient safety and care quality.

The role requires 1+ year of sterilization experience, BCLS certification, and knowledge of AAMI/ASHCSP standards. You will maintain logs, support OR coordination, and lead a small team in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in surgical instrument sterilization processing.
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment.
• Certification and knowledge of AAMI and ASHCSP standards.
• Graduate of Sterile Processing program.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of maintenance, cleanliness, and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Maintain a sanitary environment for patient care.
• Demonstrate awareness of appropriate sterilization methods for different instruments per manufacturer instructions.
• Demonstrate knowledge of high-level disinfection and sterilization of endoscopy equipment.
• Maintain a daily log, test efficacy of disinfecting solution with each cycle, and perform biological testing.
• Monitor and record all test loads and sterilization cycles, documenting deviations to OR Coordinator/Nurse Manager.
• Maintain an accurate log for equipment out for repair.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Lead Certified Instrument/Sterile Processing Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will contribute to the company’s mission and vision by assisting with the care of patients by providing properly cleaned, sterilized, highly disinfected instruments and supplies. The Lead Sterile Processing Tech provides positive, goal-oriented technical leadership, thus promoting an atmosphere of support and quality.

What you will do in this role:

• You will demonstrate knowledge related to maintenance, cleanliness, and sterilization of instruments and equipment
• You will maintain a sanitary environment for the provision of patient care
• You will demonstrate awareness of appropriate sterilization methods needed for different instruments in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
• You will demonstrate knowledge of high-level disinfection and sterilization of endoscopy equipment.
• You will maintain a daily log, testing for efficacy of disinfecting solution with each cycle and perform biological testing
• You will monitor and record all test loads and sterilization cycles while documenting any deviation from normal functioning to OR Coordinator and/or Nurse Manager
• You will maintain an accurate log for equipment out for repair

Qualifications for this role:

• 1+ year experience in surgical instrument sterilization processing, preferably in an acute care or ambulatory surgery center environment
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment***online certification not acceptable
• Certification and knowledge of standards and recommended guidelines of Association of Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and American Society of Healthcare Central Service Professionals (ASHCSP)
• Graduate of Sterile Processing program
