This position is responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR). It also involves providing personal care and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensuring the delivery of care and services to all residents in the community, including Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities, dining services, and individual service plan needs of each assigned resident.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervise self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines, as directed by the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.
  • Count and sign all narcotics on an approved form with authorized personnel before accepting medication keys. Report discrepancies immediately to a supervisor.
  • Order all necessary medication and treatments from the pharmacy or notify responsible parties when supplies are below 7 days’ worth.
  • Notify the supervisor when supplies are less than 2 days and medication has not been received.
  • Receive and verify all medication accuracy according to pharmacy label and MAR; report discrepancies to pharmacy and DH&W.
  • Store all medications properly, keeping lotions, ointments, and liquids separate from oral medications.
  • Date all vials or bottles upon initial opening and follow pharmacy protocols regarding usage duration.
  • Conduct weekly inspections of all medications to ensure expired medications are removed.
  • Compare current MARs with new MARs at each changeover and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Remove discontinued medications from the med cart and hand them over to the supervisor.
Resident Care Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care such as bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating.
  • Administer general nursing care including vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, and weights.
  • Document all relevant information in the daily log and notify supervisors of concerns.
  • Assist residents with needs as assigned, answering calls promptly.
  • Supervise and direct other clinical staff as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of medication carts at the end of shifts and restock as necessary.
  • Perform weekly deep cleaning of all med carts.
  • Participate in staff training and in-services.
  • Ensure all medical records are prepared and complete within 48 hours for new admissions and readmissions, following policies and regulations.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience/training, or equivalent.

Experience: At least 1 month, preferably in senior living.

Certifications: Current Medication Technician certification as per state regulations.

Skills: Proficiency in English, basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong time management, team-oriented, passionate about helping seniors.
