Job summary

Trinity Health Of New England is seeking a Central Sterile Supply Tech to join our mission-driven team in Hartford, CT. The role focuses on coordinating surgical instrument processing, case cart management, and ensuring compliance with sterilization procedures.

Under the supervision of the Central Service Manager, you will educate staff, monitor supplies, and support OR operations. This full-time position requires experience in CSP and a strong commitment to patient safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent education required.
• Five years of experience in Central Sterile Processing.
• Central Service Certification required (CBSPD or CRCST).
• Knowledge of sterilization standards and medical terminology.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensures and educates staff on proper decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment to clean, identify and inspect.
• Ensures proper assembly and packaging of instrument sets to allow steam penetration and sterilization.
• Assists manager with accurate time keeping and scheduling.
• Conducts biological monitoring within Central Sterilization Processing Department.
• Prepares Code Blue carts, performs distribution rounds.
• Monitors and orders supplies for specific areas as assigned by manager.
• Receives and monitors reported errors from clinical staff and escalates to manager when necessary.
• Monitors the workflow of designated shifts to ensure the completion of work assignments to satisfy the customer's expectations.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.

Schedule : Full-Time, 40 Hours- Rotating Shift

Position Purpose:

Under moderate direction of the Central Service Manager coordinates smooth flow of surgical instrument processing and case cart management activities. Serves as liaison between CSP team, nursing units, and surgical areas concerning all aspects of the case cart system and Medical/Surgical supplies. Communicates and educates CSP techs of changes and requirements for sterilization and assembly equipment, supplies and procedure trays, according to established procedures. Checks levels and delivers supplies to nursing units. Maintains tracking system data. Position may require working at either campus or alternate sites.

What you will do:

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.
• Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.
• Position requires ability to handle high volume phone communications, multitasking and delegating response measures to staff to meet critical needs of clinical staff.
• Position requires ability to constantly concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand and relate to theories behind several related concepts/clinical needs and remember multiple tasks given over long periods of time. Knowledge of SPD supplies and the principles of body mechanics for lifting and moving equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent education required.
• Five (5) years of experience in Central Sterile Processing field.
• Central Service Certification required (CBSPD or CRCST).
• Knowledge of sterilization standards and procedures and C.S. related medical terminology. Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department's computerized system and its associated devices.
• Strong communication skills.

Pay Range: $20.20- $30.30/ per hour

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
