GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This role involves proactively collaborating, leading, and influencing peers. The Lead Cashier drives loyalty results, including credit, through a focus on performance, people, and process. They support the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat ins/outs, and are passionate about guest experience, process excellence, and delivering exceptional results by engaging guests in our Loyalty Life Cycle.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The LC demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties:

Performance

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, greeting and engaging guests, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training associates.
• Engage and influence peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Complete transactions accurately, including returns and media control.
• Maintain store standards and cleanliness, including at the cashwrap and throughout the store.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent preferred.
• Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
• Passion for guest service and sales.

Skills

• Proficient with POS systems and basic technology.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be 18 or older to hold this role.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility throughout the store, frequent bending, lifting up to 25 lbs., and other physical activities.
