General Summary & Scope

The Lead Cashier (LC) is responsible for the efficiency of guest transactions and maintaining excellence in cashwrap standards, including cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Experienced in cashiering, the LC assists in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates. This position drives loyalty results, including credit, through performance (sales, guest experience, and loyalty), people (guest service, and associate training and development), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards with an emphasis on cashiering). The Lead Cashier supports the leadership team with register functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat ins/outs, requiring a passion for the guest experience, process excellence, and delivering exceptional results by engaging every guest on the benefits of our Loyalty Life Cycle.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The LC demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties:

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
  • Ensure each guest receives exceptional service through greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and recommending products or services.
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Support the execution of services and in-store events to enhance the guest experience and meet sales goals.
  • Maintain replenishment, organization, and cleanliness of cashwrap displays and supplies.
  • Maintain prompt attendance.

People

  • Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
  • Assist in cashier training and cross-training associates.
  • Engage and influence peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.
  • Participate in ongoing training to improve skills and sales performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to grow the business.

Process

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Adhere to dress code.
  • Complete all transactions accurately and control cash/media according to policies.
  • Perform register open/close functions as directed.
  • Maintain store standards and cleanliness.
  • Protect company assets and minimize loss.
  • Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma preferred.

Experience

  • 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
  • Ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
  • Passion for guest service and sales.
  • Experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires.

Skills

  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic technology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to build customer relationships.
  • Adaptability and good judgment under pressure.

Special Position Requirements

  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be 18 or older.
