Overview

The Lead Cashier (LC) ensures efficient guest transactions and maintains high standards at the cashwrap, including cleanliness and aesthetics. The LC assists in training new cashiers, cross-training associates, and leading by example to foster collaboration and influence peers. This role drives loyalty results through performance, people, and process focus, supporting leadership with register functions, associate inspections, and cashier chats, all while delivering exceptional guest experiences and promoting loyalty benefits.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The LC champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties:

Performance

• Meet or exceed store goals related to sales, loyalty, and shrink.
• Provide exceptional service, greeting and engaging guests, personalizing their experience, and recommending products/services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Support guest services like makeup applications and product demonstrations.
• Book appointments and support in-store events.
• Maintain cashwrap displays and supplies for guest readiness.
• Ensure regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist in cashier training and cross-training.
• Lead peers to achieve productivity and performance goals.
• Participate in ongoing training and collaborate to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Complete transactions accurately and control cash/media.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety standards.
• Protect assets and minimize loss.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma preferred.

Experience: 2+ years relevant experience, ability to delegate, multi-task, problem-solve, and exceed sales goals.

Skills: Proficiency with POS systems and technology, excellent communication, interpersonal skills, team collaboration, and adaptability.

Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays.
• Must be 18+ years old.

Working Conditions

• Mobility and physical activity throughout the store.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
