GENERAL SUMMARY
A Lead Cashier assists leadership staff with store operation by performing assigned advanced tasks and provides leadership to assigned team members. This position contributes to the leadership environment through supervision of register efficiency, ability to delegate responsibility, time management skills, strong knowledge of merchandise, implementation of policies and procedures and a thorough understanding of the elements that drive retail operations profitability. Our Lead Cashier should possess a strong work ethic and ability to handle non-stop and sometimes intense workload; exhibit exceptional customer service skills with ability to balance guest concerns and team member questions in a fast pace environment, with a calm demeanor. St. Matthew’s House is faith-based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Supervises cash wrap activity daily.
• Must be current and proficient in all Point of Sale procedures.
• Handles cash drawer opening, reconciliation, and POS authorized management level responsibilities.
• Provide an example of excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and thanking guests; hold the team accountable to this standard of customer service.
• Provide an example of excellent telephone etiquette when answering the phone; hold the team accountable to this standard of telephone etiquette.
• Maintain the appearance of the cash wrap and surrounding sales floor area.
• Must have the ability to communicate with the leadership team of needs daily.
• Train and develop cashier team members.
• Assist the leadership team with the implementation of policies and procedures.
• Provide feedback to the leadership team of cashier team member performance.
• Complete all tasks that are given in an efficient and timely manner.
• Foster and demonstrate a safe, healthy and positive team environment.
Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Retail Leadership and Sales background preferred.

Mental/Visual Demands: Flow of work requires normal mental and visual capabilities.
Working Conditions: Schedule flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demands: This position requires standing, walking, and bending for long periods. The employee is required to handle, feel and/or reach with hands and arms and must frequently lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
