General Summary & Scope

The Lead Cashier (LC) ensures efficient guest transactions and maintains high standards at the cashwrap, including cleanliness and aesthetics. With cashiering experience, the LC trains new cashiers and cross-trains other associates, demonstrating leadership, collaboration, and influence. This role drives loyalty results, focusing on sales, guest experience, and adherence to operating procedures. The LC supports opening and closing registers, conducts associate exit inspections, and promotes the benefits of our Loyalty Life Cycle, contributing to store goals.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The LC embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties:

Performance

• Meet or exceed store goals related to sales, loyalty, and shrinkage.
• Provide exceptional service, greeting guests, personalizing interactions, and recommending products/services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Support guest services such as makeup applications and product demonstrations.
• Support in-store events and appointments to enhance guest experience and sales.
• Maintain replenishment and organization of cashwrap displays and supplies.
• Maintain regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Assist with cashier chat ins/outs and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services.
• Promote the guest loyalty program and create excitement around credit and loyalty goals.
• Train new cashiers and cross-train associates.
• Lead peers to achieve performance goals.
• Deliver personalized brand experiences and follow Ulta’s systems.
• Participate in ongoing training and development.
• Collaborate to grow the business.

Process

• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Complete transactions accurately and control cash/media according to policies.
• Perform register opening and closing functions as directed.
• Maintain store cleanliness and standards throughout the store.
• Protect assets and minimize loss through adherence to standards.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma preferred.

Experience

• 2+ years relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve.
• Passion for guest service and sales.
• Experience in addressing guest concerns professionally.
• Proven sales achievement and training skills.

Skills

• Proficiency with POS systems and basic technology.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Build and maintain customer relationships.
• Adaptability and good judgment under pressure.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
