Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: Lead Tellers supervise and process accurate and timely verification of customer deposits and orders. Responsibilities include counting currency, coin, and checks, packing customer change orders, entering transactions into the computer, and balancing funds processed daily. Tellers also prepare daily paperwork following branch procedures.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure all monies declared on a customer's deposit are credited before verification.
  2. Verify immediate credit teller process and create manifest for all after-8 pm same-day credit customers to ensure deposits are accounted for and verified the next day.
  3. Verify currency teller functions to confirm all monies on deposit tickets are correct before crediting customers.
  4. Validate immediate credit item count against a manifest to ensure deposits are accounted for after verification.
  5. Verify stripping teller process, cash-in substitute, to ensure daily cash verification and crediting, independent of checks in deposit.
  6. Perform ATM teller functions, verify ATM canister cash against processing receipts, and replenish funds in empty canisters before validation.
  7. Report promptly to lead teller and supervisor any deposit setup or preparation issues.
  8. Report totals (subject to count) to the supervisor and customer with backup documentation.
  9. Maintain and clean all teller equipment and ensure the processing area is clean and organized.
  10. Verify all incoming deposits to ensure cash credits are correctly applied to customer accounts.
  11. Tag tubs for verification with bank ID, dollar amount, and count for next-day verification.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Cash handling experience required.
  • 1-2 years teller and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Experience in fast-paced environments is a plus.
