Job summary

UIC Construction is seeking a skilled Carpenter to construct, erect, install, or repair wood structures and fixtures, including forms, frameworks, stairs, and window/door frames. The role may involve cabinets, siding, drywall, and insulation, and requires safety compliance.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, measuring and cutting, installing components, verifying trueness with plumb bob, assembling frameworks, and maintaining a clean work site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years verifiable carpentry experience focusing on new construction.
• Must possess and maintain a current driver’s license.
• Knowledge of general construction techniques and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine layout and materials.
• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements with hand or power tools.
• Follow safety rules and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Measure and mark cutting lines using rulers and gauges.
• Install structures or fixtures using carpenters' tools.
• Verify structural true-ness with plumb bob and level.
• Assemble and fasten materials to form frameworks or props.
• Repair damaged parts or sections of structures.
• Inspect ceilings, floors, walls, and woodwork for damage.
• Operate basic construction equipment such as forklifts and man-lifts.
