The Role at a Glance

As our Carpenter Leadman, you will lay the groundwork for Jackson’s self-perform carpentry efforts, taking ownership of essential field tasks—especially door and hardware installation—while setting a high standard of quality, safety, and accountability. We'll count on you to lead by example in the field, communicate proactively with superintendents, and help define how Jackson delivers self-perform work moving forward. In this foundational role, you’ll need technical skill, a self-starting attitude, and the ability to coach and collaborate as we grow this capability together.

How You'll Drive Results

  • Lead by Example in the Field: Execute rough and finish carpentry tasks—including door and hardware installation—with precision, professionalism, and attention to detail, serving as the model for future team members.
  • Champion a Culture of Safety: Own the daily execution of Jackson’s safety protocols, maintain jobsite compliance, and proactively address field hazards to help foster a zero-incident environment.
  • Build the Standard for Self-Perform Work: Establish the pace, quality, and expectations for Jackson’s self-perform effort by taking initiative, solving problems in real time, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
  • Master Door and Hardware Installation: Hang doors, install hardware, and troubleshoot alignment or install issues in accordance with specifications—demonstrating high craftsmanship.
  • Coordinate Field Activities Proactively: Work closely with superintendents to align daily priorities, identify needed tools and materials, and minimize delays or rework that could impact the project schedule.
  • Mentor and Train the Next Generation: Share your expertise with laborers or junior carpenters assigned to support you, helping them develop field skills, understand expectations, and grow into reliable contributors.
  • Represent Jackson with Professionalism: Uphold Jackson’s values through respectful interactions with Owners, teammates, and trade partners while delivering work that reflects our commitment to quality and integrity.

Essential Functions

You must be able to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders frequently, with the ability to walk on uneven ground and work above ground on scaffolds. Standing for up to seven hours during an eight-hour shift is also expected. Requires the ability to maintain balance on uneven surfaces and scaffolding at various heights, ensuring safety in all work conditions. Good finger manipulation is essential to handle tools effectively and operate equipment. Team members must be able to carry and use hand tools, climb on both light and heavy equipment, and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance required for heavier items. Must have depth perception to navigate safely around hazards, and the ability to hear horns and sirens on moving equipment. Outdoor work in temperatures from 25 to 115 degrees Fahrenheit is also required.
