Lead Carpenter
Objective:
- Reports directly to assigned project manager.
- On-site project management, supervision, carpentry, and production.
- Coordinate material orders & subcontractor scheduling and communicate these with the client and PM.
- Expedite timely completion of work.
- Ensure job site safety and enforce job site rules.
- Maintain regular client contact.
- Create raving fans from our clients.
Position Requirements:
- Mastery of carpentry skills.
- High school graduate or greater preferred.
- Using and maintaining technology such as applications for project management, time tracking, email, and calendar.
- Extensive interior and exterior rough and finish carpentry skills and advanced training and knowledge of a broad range of construction methods and techniques.
- Basic understanding of all subcontractor trades relevant to residential construction and the ability to quality control this work.
- Strong communication, job coordination, organization, leadership, problem-solving, and supervisory skills.
- The ability to interact and communicate well with the client throughout the project.
- Able and willing to teach others.
- Must be available for occasional extended work hours as required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis, including lifting 80 pounds.
- Valid drivers’ license and good driving record.
- Safe and operable woodworking tools.
- Setup and use ladders, scaffolding, and staging to include going on roofs.
- OSHA 10 (will provide training).
- Attend all required company meetings/events.
Position Responsibilities:
- Reading and interpreting project documents such as plans, specifications, subcontractor work orders, change requests, and descriptions of work.
- Being thoroughly familiar with the details of the job prior to start of work.
- Communicating clearly with homeowners, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and Platt colleagues.
- Reviewing the promised job schedule and adjusting or signing-off on the schedule.
- Understanding the description of the work.
- Identifying and discussing additional work with the project manager.
- Attending the pre-construction conference, holding jobsite inspections, and conducting final inspections.
- Performing tool, staging, or equipment requests in a timely manner.
- Performing and/or supervising all job-related carpentry.
- Preparing the site for, scheduling, and supervising all job-related subcontractors.
- Purchasing and ordering locally available materials in a timely manner.
- Ensuring that there is sufficient time each evening for end-of-day procedures.
- Notifying the client well in advance of any utility service interruption or other inconveniences.
- Maintaining correct dress and behavior standards among our crew and our subcontractors.
- Checking in daily with the Client and/or project manager.
- Maintaining accurate daily job reports, and timesheets.
- Enforcing company policies on site according to the company handbook.
- Ensuring the safety of the team, our subcontractors, the client, and the site from the public.
- Reviewing the description of work with each carpenter on site.
