ID3 Group is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our custom fabrication team in Atlanta. This hands-on leadership role requires directing a carpentry crew, interpreting complex shop drawings, planning construction methods, and ensuring projects meet safety, quality, and schedule targets.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional carpentry or related fabrication experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to train others.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of professional carpentry, cabinetmaking, or related experience preferred.
• Lead, foreman, or supervisory experience in fabrication/production environments preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and production specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction of custom exhibits, displays, cabinetry, millwork, and structural elements.
• Review shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, work orders, and production specs.
• Determine materials, tools, equipment, and construction methods.

Position Summary

ID3 Group is seeking experienced Lead Carpenters to join our custom fabrication team. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for building custom exhibits, displays, scenic elements, architectural features, cabinetry, and branded environments while providing daily direction to assigned carpenters and fabrication team members.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled carpenter who can interpret complex shop drawings, plan construction methods, organize work assignments, solve fabrication challenges, and ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the construction of custom exhibits, displays, cabinetry, millwork, scenic elements, and specialty fabricated structures.
• Review shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, work orders, and production specifications.
• Determine appropriate materials, tools, equipment, and construction methods.
• Assign daily work and provide hands-on direction to carpenters and fabrication team members.
• Monitor project progress, workmanship, labor needs, and material usage.
• Train and coach employees on carpentry techniques, equipment use, quality expectations, and safe work practices.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, laminate, and finish wood and related materials.
• Operate woodworking machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely.
• Coordinate with project managers, designers, engineers, and other production departments.
• Identify drawing conflicts, material shortages, and fabrication concerns before they affect production schedules.
• Inspect completed work to ensure it meets drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Perform final adjustments, repairs, and touch-ups before projects leave the shop.
• Support packing, loading, delivery, and on-site installation when required.
• Maintain an organized work area and enforce housekeeping and safety requirements.
• Report production delays, quality concerns, employee issues, injuries, and safety hazards to management promptly.
• Ensure employees use required personal protective equipment and follow established safety procedures.

Qualifications

• At least five years of professional carpentry, cabinetmaking, millwork, scenic fabrication, exhibit fabrication, or related experience preferred.
• Previous lead, foreman, or supervisory experience in a fabrication, construction, or production environment.
• Advanced knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, hardware, and construction techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed shop drawings, blueprints, and production specifications.
• Skilled in operating table saws, panel saws, miter saws, routers, sanders, drills, nail guns, and other woodworking equipment.
• Ability to plan work, estimate material needs, and organize multiple project priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound fabrication decisions.
• Ability to train employees and provide clear, respectful direction.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
• Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime when project schedules require it.
• Experience with custom exhibits, museums, events, theatrical scenery, cabinetry, or architectural millwork is strongly preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and ability to travel for installations may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, reach, climb, squat, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently.
• Team lifting or mechanical assistance must be used for heavier or awkward materials.
• Ability to work at elevated heights when properly trained and authorized.
• Ability to work in a fabrication environment around machinery, dust, noise, and construction materials.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
