Job summary

Dowbuilt is seeking a Lead Carpenter to work on premier residential projects. You will lead interior and exterior carpentry, coordinate crews and subs, and maintain high-quality work within tight tolerances.

The role emphasizes constructability, safety, and effective communication with field teams and clients. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of high-end residential carpentry, ability to read drawings, manage layouts, and mentor others while upholding Dowbuilt standards.

Job description

We’re hiring aLead Carpenterto work on our high-end residential construction projects. Dowbuilt lead carpenters have highly advanced interior and exterior carpentry skills and a demonstrated ability to execute work within very tight tolerances. This position requires an aptitude for providing creative constructability solutions to a variety of design challenges and is key to executing the high-quality work that Dowbuilt is known for.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a lead carpenter, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Assisting with pickup framing, rough framing, finish carpentry, site protection, etc. as needed
  • Managingmaterial deliveries, handling, storage, and placement
  • Assisting the superintendent with building layout anddimensional control
  • Field verification of shop drawings as directed by the superintendent and project engineers
  • Working and planning with subcontractors to make sure the project is ready for them to begin work each day
  • Running small projects as a working lead; coordinatingand directing crew and subs to maximize productivity
  • Providingmentoring and coaching to fellow carpenters and laborers
  • Maintaining job site security and safety (i.e., ensuringsafety of all people, tools, and materials)
  • Identifying when other workers or subcontractors are not working in a safe manner and reporting unsafe practices to the superintendent
  • Assisting the superintendent with creation of the short-interval schedule and being responsible for its execution
  • Assisting the superintendent with maintaining accurate documentation across all field systems
  • Maintaining effective, respectful communication at all times with field crew, subs, clients, partners, andteam
  • Helping to plan and communicate site production expectations with crew daily; participatingin quality control
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

To be successful as a Dowbuilt lead carpenter, you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of high-end residential carpentry experience
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
  • Ability to line out crew and subcontractors and communicate/maintain Dowbuilt quality standards
  • Working knowledge of layout and install of wall framing, floors androof systems, stairs, windows, anddoors
  • Must complete or already have acquired the appropriate safety training commensurate with the position and location (ongoing safety training provided)
  • Be a team player and foster a positive and constructive attitude environment onsite
  • Possess technical and working knowledge of building methods and construction practice; continually learn and develop new skills and capabilities
  • Ability to manage stress and maintain composure in challenging situations
  • Abilityto anticipate and troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to follow direction and perform work as designated
  • Motivation, dependability,and trustworthiness
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • U.S. work authorization

The base pay range for this position is $42.00- $50.00 per hour. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
New hires typically start below the midpoint of the range, with the opportunity for growth and advancement over time.
