Position: Lead Caregiver

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour (depending on experience), mileage reimbursement ($0.65 per mile) in between clients, as well as travel time in between clients. Overtime is available if more than 40 hours are worked in one week.

Schedule: Availability should be Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week – Even if you are not scheduled for 40 hours, you are guaranteed to be paid for them (please note that if you are not scheduled to work 40 hours with clients, and no fill in shifts are available, you may be asked to come into the office to assist with clerical duties).

Responsibilities:

Client Care:

  • Provide hands-on care and support to clients, adhering to established care plans.

  • Monitor and assess the physical and emotional well-being of clients, reporting any changes promptly.

  • Administer medication as per care plans and ensure adherence to prescribed treatments (the lead caregiver must successfully pass the medication administration training provided by the agency R.N.)

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and motivate a team of caregivers to deliver high-quality care.

  • Provide training and guidance to new caregivers, ensuring adherence to care protocols.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the caregiving team.

Scheduling and Coverage:

  • Maintain availability during scheduled hours (Sunday through Thursday, 7 am to 7 pm).

  • Ensure coverage for assigned shifts; flexibility to travel within the areas that the South Portland office services, and potentially the Westside (with additional compensation).

  • Be available for additional hours and assignments as needed.

Travel and Mileage:

  • Drive to client locations within the South Portland coverage area.

  • Mileage reimbursement at a rate of $0.65 per mile for travel between client locations.

  • Potential travel to the Westside with additional compensation.

Office Support:

  • Assist with clerical work in the office during scheduled hours if not assigned to 40 hours of client care.

  • Be responsive to requests from the office for additional support.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

  • Current auto insurance; maintain up-to-date auto insurance.

  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle records check.

  • Willingness to travel within the South Portland coverage area and potentially the Westside.

  • Successful completion of medication administration training with the agency R.N.

  • Maintenance of continuing education and medication administration trainings each year.

Guaranteed Hours Policy:

  • Lead Caregiver is guaranteed 40 hours per week, even if not scheduled for the full duration.

  • If not scheduled for 40 hours, the office may request assistance with clerical work during scheduled hours.

Termination Policy:

  • Lead Caregiver agreement may be terminated if shifts within the expected availability window are declined without reasonable cause.

  • Reasonable reasons for declining shifts include illness, emergencies, etc.
