Job summary

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking an experienced Associate Professor of Cardiology to join the Heart Failure and Transplant team. The role focuses on advanced heart failure, LVAD and transplant care, with a strong emphasis on teaching and research.

Responsibilities include leading clinical care, participating in multidisciplinary collaboration, and expanding clinics and outreach programs while maintaining excellence in patient care and education.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with board certification in Cardiovascular Disease
• Fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant Cardiology
• Demonstrated experience managing advanced heart failure, transplant patients, and LVADs
• Established academic track record appropriate for appointment at Associate Professor level
• Strong clinical, teaching, and collaborative skills within a multidisciplinary environment

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized outpatient and inpatient care for patients with advanced heart failure, including LVAD and heart transplantation
• Manage complex heart failure cases and optimize guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT)
• Evaluate and select candidates for advanced therapies including transplant and durable mechanical support
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiothoracic surgery, transplant coordinators, intensivists, and subspecialties
• Support post-transplant and LVAD patient management with longitudinal follow-up and complication management
• Contribute to development and expansion of heart failure and transplant clinics and outreach programs
• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care with timely diagnosis, treatment, and care transitions
• Engage in clinical research and scholarly productivity to advance the field
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty
