Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital seeks a Cardiac Surgery Intensivist to provide high-level critical care for patients after complex heart surgeries. This role requires close collaboration with cardiac surgeons, APPs, anesthesiologists, and cardiologists to optimize perioperative and postoperative management.

The intensivist will lead an interdisciplinary ICU, participate in daily rounds, develop evidence-based protocols, and contribute to education and research focused on improving outcomes for CABG,

Responsibilities

• Provide direct critical care for cardiac surgery patients post-op, including CABG, valve, and transplant cases.
• Oversee hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, and renal replacement therapy in the ICU.
• Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, APPs, cardiologists, and anesthesiologists to coordinate care.
• Lead rounds and develop protocols to standardize post-op cardiac ICU care.
• Drive quality improvement by tracking outcomes and reducing complications.
• Mentor and educate ICU staff and fellows in cardiac surgery critical care.
