Campus Pastor Job Description - Cypress
Bayou City Fellowship is one church with three local expressions at Spring Branch, Cypress and Tomball. We are seeking a Lead Campus Pastor for our Cypress Campus. As a church, we emphasize three things that guide our ministries: 1) a radical focus on Jesus, 2) serving the city and the world and 3) planting new churches. Bayou City Fellowship is elder-governed and the Senior Pastor leads the staff and the church on behalf of the elders.
The Lead Campus Pastor of the Cypress campus will report to the Senior Pastor. They will partner with the Senior Pastor in casting and carrying out the church’s overall vision of being Jesus-focused communities at their respective campuses. This vision will be accomplished through consistent proclamation/teaching & application of God’s word, shepherding & managing the staff and affairs of the campus, and providing direction for ministries and pastoral care. While reporting to the Senior Pastor, the Lead Campus Pastors operate within the leadership framework that includes local campus elders.
The following is a list of the responsibilities & requirements of the Lead Campus Pastor.
Responsibilities
- Pastor / Shepherd the congregation at their campus
- Strong leadership ability to lead staff and set vision for the campus in alignment with Sr Pastor/Elder Board
- Nurture the congregation towards a deeper love for Jesus and a deeper devotion to Him
- Shepherd and disciple the campus staff.
- Lead and supervise the campus stafffor effective ministry that is aligned to the church’s ministry goals. Foster staff development and growth.
- Plan and lead weekly campus staff meetings
- Oversee the different ministries at the campus
- Be visible and present in the activities of the church
- Oversee and facilitate the weekly worship services
- Prepare and deliver Biblically centered, expository sermons at Sunday services at least twice each month
- Perform pastoral functions (biblical guidance, shepherding, teaching) for the members of the local campus
- Serve as a vocational elder. Coordinate communication between the campus staff and elders
- Steward the campus budget
- Participate on the Leadership Team led by the Senior Pastor
- Work closely with campus and global Elders to initiate and establish a campus specific mission/vision that integrates with the shared vision across Bayou City Fellowship
- Communicate the Campus’ ministry vision and mission to the local congregation to motivate and encourage participation and engagement
- Participate with other ministry staff in conducting weddings, funerals, baptisms and other pastoral functions
- Work alongside the Outreach Staff to ensure vibrant participation of campus in serving and sharing Christ withthe City and the World.
- Attend to other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Pastor.
Requirements
- Demonstrates a life of deep fellowship with Jesus, reliance upon the Holy Spirit, prayer and submission to God through His Word.
- Demonstrates mature faith and wisdom in pastoral practice.
- Well-rounded giftedness in preaching & teaching, confidence-instilling leadership and faithful shepherding of God’s people
- Theologically & Biblically well-grounded. Relevant Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Skilled and experienced in pastoral ministry and pastoral leadership of congregations; 5-8 years of pastoral experience preferred.
- Satisfies elder qualifications according to the scriptures (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:6-9; 1 Pet. 5:1-4)
- Exercises initiative in developing and leading ministries / programs that promote spiritual maturity & Christian formation
- Ability to lead staff and congregation in the vision cast by the Sr Pastor/Elder Board
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Collaborative team player who is skilled at team-building and enjoys working with teams to promote and advance the mission of the church.
- Agreement to abide/teach/preach within Bayou City Fellowship’s Doctrinal Statement, distinctives and operational practices
- Desire and ability to make a long-term commitment to Bayou City Fellowship
- Experience serving and leading within an Elder-led church preferred
