Job summary

The Lead Campus Maintenance Technician at MinnWest Technology Campus in Willmar, MN oversees day-to-day maintenance across a multi-building campus, providing technical leadership and guiding the maintenance team to ensure safety, reliability, and tenant satisfaction.

You will coordinate contractors, prioritize work orders, and develop preventative maintenance and capital plans, while maintaining accurate records and promoting a safe environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commercial building maintenance or facility management.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
• HVAC, boiler, plumbing, or pool maintenance certifications/licensures preferred.

Lead Campus Maintenance Technician

Pay Range: $34 - $38/Hour

What we’re looking for:

• Lead and coordinate daily maintenance operations across approximately 20 commercial buildings, providing technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance staff.
• Prioritize work orders and projects based on safety, business needs, and tenant priorities.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs, long-term facility plans, and capital replacement plans.
• Monitor building systems and proactively identify maintenance needs, including boilers, HVAC, pool systems, and other critical infrastructure.
• Provide responsive, professional service to tenants and ensure maintenance requests are completed efficiently with minimal disruption.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and service providers, including scheduling, project oversight, and quality of completed work.
• Maintain a safe, clean, attractive, and well-maintained campus, including grounds, parking areas, landscaping, and building exteriors.
• Promote safety and ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable building, fire, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building system issues and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Oversee the maintenance, inspection, repair, and safe operation of campus vehicles and equipment.
• Manage maintenance inventory, critical parts, equipment, and facility assets to support operational needs and long-term planning.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and respond to facility emergencies as needed.

What you'll do:

The Lead Campus Maintenance Technician oversees the day-to-day maintenance, appearance, and operational reliability of a multi-building commercial campus. This role serves as the technical leader of the maintenance team, providing guidance, troubleshooting expertise, and long-term planning to ensure facilities remain safe, attractive, and operating efficiently. The role requires a hands-on leader who balances preventive maintenance, tenant service, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement.

Other key areas include:

• 5+ years of experience in commercial building maintenance, facility management, property management, or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured.
• HVAC, boiler, plumbing, or pool maintenance certifications/licensures preferred.

• Strong working knowledge of commercial building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, boilers, and general maintenance.
• Ability to diagnose complex facility issues and develop effective solutions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor and collaborate with others.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple facilities and competing demands.
• Ability to effectively coordinate and work with contractors, vendors, and internal teams.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records, inventories, and schedules.
• Results-oriented approach with a commitment to quality service, safety, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to a variety of facility and business needs.
