DECKED is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Lead CAE/Hardware Test & Validation Engineer to spearhead our efforts in ensuring the performance, reliability, and safety of our DECKED products. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in computer-aided engineering (CAE), as well as experience in physical testing and validation. They should also have a proven track record of leading teams and delivering high-quality results.

In this role, you will be crucial in assisting product development from concept to production by utilizing advanced simulation and testing techniques. You will support the Product Development Hardware Engineering Team through virtual product testing, managing the Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), and conducting physical testing on pre-production products. Additionally, you will ensure that DECKED’s internal correlation is developed as we progress with our products and assist in building a CAE/Test & Validation team to support the growth of this division within the business.

Responsibilities:

Lead CAE Analysis:

  • Perform and oversee advanced CAE simulations to analyze and predict product performance under various operating conditions.
  • Develop and validate CAE models, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Interpret simulation results and provide actionable recommendations to design teams.
  • Optimize designs for performance, durability, and manufacturability.

Lead Test & Validation Planning and Execution:

  • Develop comprehensive test plans and procedures to validate product performance and reliability based on results of CAE simulations.
  • Design and implement test fixtures and setups.
  • Conduct physical testing, including environmental, durability, and performance testing.
  • Analyze test data and generate detailed reports.
  • Identify and resolve design flaws and performance issues through testing and analysis.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Lead and mentor a team of CAE and test engineers, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Manage project timelines and resources effectively.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Provide technical training to team members.

Process Improvement:

  • Develop and implement best practices for CAE, testing, and validation processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure seamless product development.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in CAE, testing, and validation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams.
  • Strong experience with CAE software
  • Hands-on experience with various testing equipment and methodologies.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical principles and materials science.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Willingness to travel to DECKED manufacturing locations as needed (~25% of time).
