Job summary

WW Clyde seeks a seasoned CAD Technician to champion digital modeling for large-scale heavy civil projects. You will lead a team of CAD technicians, develop 3D models for highways, bridges, and utilities, and collaborate with engineers, surveyors, and project managers to ensure field-ready models that improve GPS machine control and layout.

You will work with Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and other tools, while shaping standards, workflows, and best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in heavy civil construction, CAD/BIM roles, or related fields.
• Proven ability to build and manage digital terrain and utility models.
• Deep experience with Trimble GPS/machine control workflows.
• Strong knowledge of civil design tools: Civil 3D, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit.
• Leadership experience: mentoring CAD drafters/modelers and coordinating teams.
• Understanding of grading, utility installation, road construction, and field data flow.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and management of comprehensive 3D models for heavy civil projects.
• Utilize Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, SketchUp and related tools daily.
• Develop and enforce CAD/BIM standards, templates, and workflows.
• Collaborate with project teams to gather requirements and data for models.
• Deploy models for GPS machine control and field layout; troubleshoot field issues.
• Mentor CAD technicians and drive adoption of best practices and new tech.
• Lead technology strategy and pilot new tools to keep the team at the forefront.
