Job summary

Meow Wolf, Inc. seeks an experienced CAD Design and Engineering Manager to lead a team of designers in creating 3D and 2D designs for complex installations at our Santa Fe facility.

You will collaborate with senior design and production leadership to set design expectations, maintain safety standards, and ensure buildable, scalable solutions for immersive experiences. The role requires guiding outside engineering partners, optimizing design workflows, and mentoring staff across AD&P.

Qualifications

• 7+ years experience as CAD designer, fabricator, or draftsperson in art production/entertainment
• 3+ years in design management role
• Experience on permanent guest-facing installations in art exhibits/themed entertainment
• Ability to create and review buildable 3D models, shop drawings, assembly plans, and installation drawings
• Direct outside design/engineering partners and manage design schedules
• Knowledge of life safety standards and hazard mitigation
• Experience with CAM software (MasterCAM and RhinoCAM)
• Strong design skills and ability to track multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Lead CAD design team and act as in-house engineering authority within AD&P team
• Mentor in-house designers on 3D artistic/structural designs and shop drawings
• Manage communications with outside engineering for design approvals
• Develop design optimization strategies to improve time/material efficiency
• Verify material and fastener selection before orders
• Lead design review sessions with CAD team and fabrication specialists
• Oversee hand-off from design to production with clear production plans
• Represent AD&P in project meetings and advise on work plans
• Refine Meow Wolf's internal design and safety standards
• Collaborate with Design leads to attach details for exhibit elements
• Ensure software/tools selection matches fabrication processes
• Identify training needs to advance team skills
