Job summary

UCLA Carpenter Lead role involves overseeing the cabinet shop, supervising journey-level carpenters and apprentices, and coordinating with project managers to deliver on-time, high-quality cabinetry for campus facilities.

Responsibilities include estimating materials and labor, organizing daily tasks, maintaining safety, and communicating with clients and supervisors. This is a full-time on-site position requiring strong planning and reading of architectural plans.

Qualifications

• Journey-level skills in cabinet-making and materials handling.
• Knowledge of Class A construction, fire codes, ADA requirements.
• Familiar with standard safety practices and equipment.
• Ability to read plans/blueprints and perform cost estimates.
• Strong writing skills for reports and client emails.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate skilled carpenters.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily cabinet shop activities and assign tasks.
• Monitor project status and provide updates to supervisors.
• Ensure safety and quality on job sites and in shop.
• Maintain in-shop inventory and material availability.
• Coordinate with clients, project managers, and trades.

Education

Certified Carpentry Apprenticeship

CA Class C Driver's License

Asbestos removal training (Cal-OSHA)
