Job summary

AutoNation Corporate Management, LLC is seeking a Lead BI Engineer to drive the Enterprise BI and Insights function. You will design advanced data solutions, build dashboards, and empower stakeholders with analytics tools in a remote/hybrid setup from White Plains, NY or possible office locations.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, collaboration across teams, and scalable data pipelines. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in BI engineering, strong Power BI/SSRS skills, SQL and Python

Qualifications

  • Educational background in Computer Science or Engineering, Math, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in BI Engineering, including leading BI projects with hands-on responsibility.
  • 3+ years experience with Power BI, SSRS or similar tools.
  • Ability to design, develop, and maintain dimensional data models (star/snowflake) for analytical workloads.
  • Strong programming skills in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with relational databases (MS SQL Server, Snowflake).
  • Experience with ETL services (SSIS, Azure Data Factory, DBT).
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence for project collaboration.
  • Experience building scalable data pipelines and datasets.
  • Root cause analysis on data/processes to answer business questions.

Responsibilities

  • Build analytics tools using the data pipeline to provide actionable insights across customer acquisition and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Executive, Product, Marketing, Data, Engineering, and Operations teams to support data infrastructure needs.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations for stakeholders.
  • Work with Product and Engineering in project planning and design processes.
  • Anticipate business impact of changes to systems and advise internal customers accordingly.
  • Formulate options and assess merits/risks to determine best solution.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Lead Business Intelligence Engineer to join our Enterprise Business Intelligence and Insights team. In this role, you will help transform complex data into meaningful, actionable insights that drive business decisions. You will lead the design and development of advanced data solutions, including impactful visualizations, dashboards, and self-service analytics tools, to empower stakeholders across the organization.The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong technical and analytical skills, capable of understanding business challenges and developing both quantitative and qualitative solutions. The candidate must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.Success in this role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and strong communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.This position is remote.At this time, we are not considering applicants who require employment authorization sponsorship (1) as a condition of eligibility for employment with the Company or (2) at any point during the term of their employment. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship by the Company.This role is remote, with the option to work in a hybrid capacity if you are located near one of our offices in NYC, FLL, or TX.Job Responsibilities:This role follows a hybrid schedule, with work both onsite and remotely, based out of our White Plains, NY office.Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insight into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Marketing, Data, Engineering and Operations teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.Collaborate and create data tools for analytics and data science team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.Create, maintain and enhance dashboards, reports and other visualizations for stakeholders.Tightly collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on project planning and design processes.Anticipates the impact on the business of any changes to existing systems and advises internal customers as appropriate.Formulates options, including assessing their relative merits and risks, and works to determine the best solution.You Should Have:Educational background in Computer Science or Engineering, Math, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.5+ years of experience in BI Engineering, including leading BI projects as a technical lead, with hands-on responsibility for guiding developers and stakeholders through the design, deployment, and ongoing management of BI projects that drive data-informed decision-making.3+ years Experience with Microsoft Power BI, SSRS or similar analytical and reporting tools.Ability to design, develop, and maintain logical and physical dimensional data models (star schemas, snowflake schemas) for analytical workloadsStrong Computer programming skills: SQL and PythonExperience with relational SQL databases: MS SQL Server, Snowflake or equivalent.Experience with ETL Services: SSIS, Azure Data Factory, DBT or equivalentExperience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.Experience designing, building and optimizing scalable data pipelines and data sets.Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.Strong project management and organizational skills.Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.Intellectual curiosity to find new and unusual ways of how to solve data management issues.Compensation DisclaimerBase Salary: $140,000–$160,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
