Position Overview

The Lead Burn Quality RN Specialist is a professional nurse possessing a high degree of competence and expertise
reporting to the Burn Program Director.In collaboration with the Burn Medical Director and Burn Program Leadership, the Lead Burn Quality RN Specialist (LeadBQRN) is responsible for the burn performance improvement program and develops, implements and maintains a cost-effective system of care for trauma patients and their families throughout the continuum of care.The Lead BQRN works both independently and in collaboration with the burn program medical director and other members ofthe multidisciplinary health care team as well as health system leadership to achieve high quality patient outcomes. The LeadBQRN is self-directed and self-motivated, plans and conducts work with minimal direction, and reports the progress of workwith leadership.The Lead BQRN maintains a constant state of readiness and compliance for burn center designation and verification by theGeorgia Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services and The American Burn Association.

Job Responsibilities

Percentage of Time: 45%
- Manages & serves as subject content expert to the Burn PI team by providing oversight and active participation in themanagement of the Burn performance improvement program.
- Leads the burn performance improvement team through coordination & structural optimization of all levels of review fromprimary through quaternary.
- Develops, updates, maintains and operationalizes the Burn Performance Improvement Plan (PIPS) in collaboration with theBurn Program Leadership.
- Ensures a comprehensive system of rigorous review of the continuum of care for the burn population including consistencyin identification of opportunities for improvement with reproducible system for tracking action items through to loop closuredefined as reduction or elimination in identified event given similar patient and circumstances.
- Independently organizes and leads multidisciplinary performance improvement work groups as identified through the PIPSprocess.

Percentage of Time: 45%
- Oversees data driven performance improvement projects based on Burn registry data trends and BCQP benchmarkperformance.
- Provides oversight of the monthly Burn peer review committee and Burn Quality improvement committee. Oversees logisticssuch as invites, agendas, and minutes for all PI related meetings (Burn M&M, Burn Peer Review Committee, BQIP)
- Ensures consistency in burn performance improvement program committee reporting. Coordinates preparation of cases forsecondary review with opportunities for improvement identified.
- Oversee Burn registry (BCQP) data quality validation in collaboration with the Burn Program Director.

- Serves as a mentor/coach to facilitate and support learning needs of Burn data roles while consistently exhibiting capacity tocommunicate effectively with the team to influence change
- Exhibits high levels of emotional intelligence
- Develops and maintains relationships with community, state and national organizations whose activities relate to burn/trauma care.
- Maintains knowledge & awareness of burn industry trends and developments by reading appropriate literature, attendingrelated seminars, and any internal educational offering.

Education

Required:- Bachelor of Science, Nursing (BSN)
- ICD 10 Coding Course
- TOPIC Course

Preferred:
- Master of Science, Nursing (MSN)

Experience

Required:- Four (4) or more years of job-related experience including quality, performance improvement or leading teams is required.

Preferred:
- Four (4) or more years of performance improvement leadership

Skills/Certifications/Licenses

Required:
- BLS required
- Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) required
- Proficiency with MS Office including MS Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint is required
- Experience with RedCap or similar data base development is required

Preferred:
- ACLS preferred
