Job summary

City of New York Housing Authority seeks a Resident Building Superintendent to supervise operation and maintenance of Housing Authority properties in New York City. Under general direction, you will oversee skilled and semi-skilled staff, schedule work, and implement procedures to maintain agency standards.

Responsibilities include supervising care of public spaces, facility services, structures and equipment, inspecting contractors, training staff, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or educational equivalent with five years of supervisory experience in operation, repair and maintenance of large tenanted buildings.
• Three years of this experience must be in charge of properties with at least seven maintenance and operations employees.
• Education substitution allows up to two years via college credits.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise care, cleaning and policing of all public spaces within Housing Authority buildings and grounds.
• Supervise maintenance of facility services (water, gas, electricity, heat, hot water, waste disposal).
• Supervise maintenance of structures and mechanical equipment, including elevators and appurtenances thereto.
• Inspect work of maintenance contractors.
• Take action in response to requests for repairs and adjustments to structures and equipment.
