Job summary

The City of San José’s Energy Department seeks a Senior Power Resources Specialist to lead the building electrification and energy efficiency programs within the SJCE portfolio. The role focuses on strategy, program design, funding strategies, and cross-team collaboration to advance decarbonization for residential and commercial customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building electrification, distributed energy resources, and energy efficiency programs, with experience

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required and relevant field to utility business.
Three (3) years of experience in energy resources operations, planning, purchasing, scheduling, or contract negotiations.
Possession of a valid State of California driver’s license may be required.
Form 700 disclosure requirement within first 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic direction and oversight for building electrification and energy efficiency programs.
Lead program implementation, budgeting, and funding pursuits, including external grants.
Support workforce development and stakeholder engagement for electrification initiatives.
Ensure programs comply with local/state regulations and align with SJCE’s roadmap.
Supervise staff and mentor colleagues within the department.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Law, Natural Resources, Statistics, or related field to utility business.
