Job summary

Boston seeks a Building Decarbonization Project Manager to develop and implement programs that reduce carbon emissions and boost energy efficiency. The role engages residents and building owners, connects them with resources, and supports policy development in alignment with BERDO 2.0 and related initiatives.

You will work with the Environment Department’s Climate Action teams to advance equitable, community-forward decarbonization efforts and ensure broad participation across Boston’s diverse

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time or equivalent experience in environmental science or policy or related field.
• Direct experience with green building technologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to diverse audiences.
• Fluency in at least two languages preferred (English plus another).

Responsibilities

• Familiarize with Boston climate goals, programs, and staff responsibilities for climate action.
• Support and manage projects and programs to advance energy efficiency and emissions reduction in Boston buildings.
• Contribute to development and implementation of building sector policies and regulations.
• Engage with individuals, small and large businesses, non-profits, and institutions for decarbonization support.
• Connect building owners to funding and financing opportunities for decarbonization retrofits.
• Stay current with Mass Save and incentive programs and improve offerings.
• Support Retrofit Resource Hub content and related communication.
• Lead inclusive community outreach and build collaborative partnerships across neighborhoods.
