Job summary

Harris Company is seeking a Lead Building Automation System Specialist to manage turn-key projects up to $500,000 and supervise larger retrofit efforts. You will design, program, commission and verify BAS components, and coordinate with project managers for larger scopes.

A Niagara certification or the ability to obtain it within a year is required, and authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is expected.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience working with Mechanical Systems.
  • 5 years of Building Automation Experience.
  • 3 years of Programming experience.
  • Niagara certification or ability to obtain certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Verify system compliance with plans & specifications, change orders, project scope documents/drawings, and approved sequence of operation.
  • Actively lead preconstruction activities including coordination of design and sequence of operations.
  • Ensure proper installation of components and verify wiring and system functionality.
  • Provide programming of controllers per design and sequence of operation.
  • Integrate other systems as required to meet project scope.
  • Diagnose, test and analyze performance of system components and assemblies.
  • Design graphical user interface of controlled systems within a building.
  • Provide program modification to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions and advise other trades on performance issues.
  • Assist in project close-out, commissioning, and owner training.

**Job Description:**The position is responsible for turn-key execution of projects up to $500,000 or as assigned. The Lead Building Automation System Specialist (LBASS) develops and executes small retrofit and upgrade projects, while functioning as the project superintendent and manager for larger designed projects up to $500,000. The LBASS may also function as the building automation superintendent on projects over $500,000 in coordination with a full-time Project Manager. The subject matter expertise and knowledge of the LCSS includes system design, component selection, installation, programming, commissioning, and operational verification SOPs.**Control Systems Expertise*** Maintain certifications and credentials as required to maintain deep subject matter expertise on Building Automation Systems.* Systems knowledge – thorough understanding of how HVAC, Building Automation Systems, Lighting, Security, and other systems interact to meet the facilities needs* Maintain expertise in system integration and champion integration with clients* Support, train, coach, and mentor team members on high quality installation, programming, and operational verification of systems, while being a role model of the Harris values and safety standards.* Provide thought leadership on trends and changes in the controls industry**Project Execution*** Verify system compliance with plans & specifications, change orders, project scope documents/drawings, and approved sequence of operation* Actively lead preconstruction activities where applicable including coordination of design, sequence of operations, project turnover, and accounting system setup.* Ensure the proper installation of components.* Provide detailed verification of wiring and system functionality* Inspect systems to determine if they are operating properly.* Provide programming of controllers in compliance with system design, specifications, and sequence of operation* Integrate other systems as required to meet project scope* Diagnose, test, and analyze the performance of system components and assemblies* Design graphical user interface of controlled systems within a building.* Provide program modification to achieve proper system operation.* Troubleshoots and resolves malfunctions and makes recommendations that will improve efficiency or quality of operations.* Consult and advise other trades of issues impacting system performance Assist in project close-out, commissioning, and owner training per appropriate scope of work for the project.**Project Management and Documentation:*** Ensure assigned projects are completed on-time, on-budget, and without compromising safety standards* Plan, forecast, schedule and coordinate labor, materials, and subcontractors to meet the project schedule and budget* Provide timely and accurate communication with your supervisor, the project owner and other trades* Record and document changes in scope for processing as change-orders* Maintain accurate productivity tracking of labor, material and subcontractors and actively address any deficiencies* Document operational activities* Maintain a thorough understanding of project schedules, conflicts, or delays and coordinate your activities to remain effective and efficient* Compile job documentation, such as checkout sheets, as-built documentation, commissioning documentation, certificate of completion, customer training forms, training certificates and punch lists.* Provide sketches or make drawing modifications as needed for accurate project documentation.**What we’re looking for in you*** 5 years of experience working with Mechanical Systems* 5 years of Building Automation Experience* 3 years of Programming experience* Niagara certified or ability to obtain certification within 1 year.Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is required.**Your life at Harris**As one of the country's leading mechanical contractors, Harris offers you the best of both worlds: the stability, resources and opportunities of a national company, and the team culture, creative spirit and customer loyalty of a local business.
