Job summary

Mint Cannabis is seeking a Retail Lead in Buchanan, MI to act as an operational extension of the Store Manager, overseeing the sales floor flow, guest experience, and shift team performance.

You will supervise 25+ team members, coach on sales metrics, manage daily inventory, and ensure compliance with Michigan regulations during inspections. The role requires leadership, strong communication, and a readiness to drive store success.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in the cannabis industry.
• Leadership background for large teams; cannabis leadership a plus.
• Experience in sales preferred.
• Must be 21+ years of age and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Daily tasks: The exact work you do.

• Sales Expertise: Coaching and giving sales feedback to the team on their shift, while encouraging improvement of metrics.

• Floor Operations: Manage daily store openings/closings, cash reconciliation, and POS systems, discount codes.
• Compliance: Understand Michigan compliance requirements to confidently walk through state inspections and reduce deficiencies.

Retail Lead

Reports to: Store Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Retail

Location: 221 E Front St, Buchanan, MI 49107

Pay Range: $17.00-$18.00 per hour

Position Summary

The retail lead's primary responsibility is to be an operational extension to the store manager. Retail leads are responsible for controlling the sales floor flow, ensuring guests are being tended to promptly, team members are fulfilling their responsibilities, and providing operational support from discount codes to lunch coverage. The retail lead would be responsible for overseeing their shift team members and the sales floor operational efficiencies while on shift.

Responsibilities

• Daily tasks: The exact work you do.
• Leadership Responsibilities: Ensuring 25+ Team members are upselling, completing daily inventory responsibilities, and providing a guest experience.
• Sales Expertise: Responsible for coaching and giving sales feedback to the team on their shift, while also encouraging the team to improve their metrics for their location.
• Inventory Control: Coaching team member to appropriately scan out products to help reduce shrinkage
• Floor Operations: Manage daily store openings and closings, cash reconciliation, and point-of-sale (POS) systems, discount codes.
• Compliance: Understanding Michigan compliance requirements to confidently walk through state inspections, reducing deficiencies.

Goals

• Improving sales consistently month over month.
• Team education on expected sales metrics.
• Reducing aging and expiring products.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements

• Sitting, standing, walking, and climbing for long periods of time.

Work Environment

• The environment can be loud
• Atmosphere & Pace: Fast-paced and energetic. The floor features specialized product displays (flower, edibles, concentrates). Staff must be adaptable to busy rushes, as wait times and long lines are common during peak hours
