This position also includes overseeing material handling activities, providing leadership to warehouse and donation center teams, and acting as a key holder responsible for opening and closing facilities as needed. The role requires strong customer service, logistical awareness, and leadership skills to support the mission and operational goals of the organization.Job Type: Full-time, HourlyHourly Rate: $24.00 per hourShift:- 8-hour shift, scheduled for 40-hours per week; rotating weekends off
- Availability for mornings, evenings, and weekends
Responsibilities:Driving and Transportation:- Safely operate a box truck to transport donated goods and supplies between facilities.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance needs.
- Load and unload items using safe handling procedures; may involve heavy lifting and use of equipment such as pallet jacks or hand trucks.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, receipts, and related documentation.
Material Handling and Operations:- Supervise and assist with receiving, sorting, and staging of donated materials.
- Ensure warehouse and donation areas are clean, organized, and meet safety standards.
- Coordinate with warehouse and retail teams to prioritize shipments and inventory movement.
- All other duties as assigned.
Key Holder and Leadership Duties:- Open and close facilities as scheduled, including setting and disabling alarms, securing doors, and completing facility walk-throughs.
- Provide direction and support to warehouse and donation staff, including volunteers.
- Assist in training new staff and ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
- Act as point of contact in the absence of the manager or supervisor.
Customer and Donor Relations:- Represent the organization professionally when interacting with donors and community members.
- Provide courteous assistance to donors at drop-off locations and offer donation receipts when applicable.
Other Duties:- Performance of other duties on behalf of the Organization as assigned.
- Provide guidance and training to new or less experienced drivers.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients and customers by ensuring that goods are delivered on time and in good condition.
What You’ll Bring:- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Experience operating a box truck (typically 16–26 ft.) and handling materials.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a professional driver, preferably in a commercial or fleet environment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- Must have a For Hire endorsement (or Chauffeur's if prior to 2017) free of limiting factors.
- Must maintain DOT physical and all applicable requirements.
- Must pass a background check and all drug and alcohol screens.
- Must have knowledge of the city and surrounding territory.
- Must always be neat and professional.
- Must wear steel toe boots at all times.
- Must be courteous, dependable, and trustworthy.
- Must be able to accept responsibility.
- Must have knowledge of equipment and material handling techniques.
- Must have knowledge of and be safety conscious in operation of the compactor and all equipment needed.
- Must have flexible schedule and be available for morning, evening and weekend scheduling.
- Must become forklift certified to assist in loading / unloading trucks.
Preferred:- Experience in retail, warehouse, or nonprofit operations.
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain).
