Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking Border Patrol Agents to protect the nation’s borders and enforce immigration and related laws. The role requires eligibility for a GS-13 level with duties that include preventing unlawful entry and pursuing smugglers, across borders by land, water, or air.

A strong commitment to public service is essential. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, meet selective service requirements (where applicable), and pass background, psychological, and drug tests.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
• Language Requirement: Must be proficient in the Spanish language (speak and read).
• Must pass a background investigation and meet DHS Drug-Free Workplace requirements.
• Firearms qualification required; wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards.

Responsibilities

• Protect America's borders, citizens, and economic interests.
• Prevent illegal entry of aliens and smugglers by land, sea, or air; inspect documents and possessions.
• Intercept undocumented noncitizens near borders and maintain surveillance using available assets.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal areas using government vehicles and equipment.
